First of all, tell us a little about your background and how you got to where you are today.
My names Gail. My business is called GMK Counselling and I can be found at www.gmkcounselling.co.uk. I worked for over 10 years in the police. I have seen how much of an impact mental health can have on people. I decided to gain my counselling degree and pursue my new career because I want to help people to overcome their issues and have a positive impact in their lives. I decided to train in online counselling as this gives clients more access to the support they need. It’s inclusive of everyone.
What apps, gadgets, or tools can’t you live without?
For me it’s my emails, diary and Facebook.
What’s your workspace setup like?
I use a room based in an holistic centre. It’s set up as a living room to make it feel less clinical.
How do you keep track of what you have to do?
I use my diary for appointments & I have a paper to do list so if my internet is down I know what I have left to do.
How do you recharge or take a break?
I spend time with my family and I enjoy going out with my children for walks or visiting family and friends.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
For me it was when my tutor said you can’t change other people but you can change yourself. Change yourself and others will change. Others may not like how you have changed so be prepared for a different future.
What’s a problem you’re still trying to solve?
My self doubt. I’ve worked out where this has come from and now working on my self belief.
