Suzie Mosson | Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist | Supervisor

Therapist, Supervisor

I am an experienced and trained sex and relationship therapist for when you looking for help with a couple relationship or want to examine being alone in more detail. Online clients use emails or online chats to speak about their problems. Some clients use a mixture of face-to-face and online and others use a mixture of voice or video chat and emails. The choice is up to you and you can change your mind if a particular method doesn’t suit.

e-Counselling – Therapeutic Emails are more commonly used by individuals. My responses will generally take me around an hour to complete, working therapeutically from your email. Emailing for couples is a little different. Each of you will email my safe address individually but will receive a composite reply delivered to your inboxes. I use a specific password-protected computer which is held securely and has both firewalls and virus checker. Therapeutic emails are sent and received from a free encrypted service. This means no-one can eavesdrop on our messages.

Video Camera – using a secure video link you can have counselling with your partner or on your own. If you and your partner live in different places webcam counselling is an easy way for you both to take part in a session from separate locations. It’s not the same as f2f counselling but there are enough similarities to allow you to feel comfortable quickly.

For both methods of online counselling, payment will be paid in advance by either Paypal or directly to my bank account via the invoice instructions. The email address which is used to identify me is suzie@suziemosson.org and I will send you an invoice.

Psychosexual therapy – Getting reliable help and achieving positive outcomes for relationship and sexual difficulties can sometimes be difficult to find in your local area. Even more problematic is finding the level of support appropriate for your needs. The treatment I offer is based on the model used successfully by Relate for over 25 years. Sessions will initially be carried out weekly or fortnightly with the time between sessions becoming greater as the clients gain understanding & confidence in overcoming their dysfunction. All of the work in the therapy “room” is based on talking; however, you are also given homework to do with your partner in the privacy of your own home. Many clients not only enjoy their homework but delight in it as it improves physical intimacy.

As a therapist, I can help you identify how these problems are upsetting your relationship and help you find ways to get back on track.

You may not be able to see what your problems are, but rather have a vague feeling of being blocked and that your life is limited, stunted in some way. Perhaps you feel locked into repeating patterns of behaviour or simply need some direction in your life.

I provide a safe setting for looking at issues. This can help release you from being frightened and feeling you can’t do some things. I can help you feel stronger and more confident in yourself which can help make your quality of life feel better.
Individual counselling – £55 Couple counselling – £70
I have been providing supervision for agencies and individuals since 2011, online since 2013 via Supervision Emails or video camera. I also provide Consultant Supervision for other counsellors, therapists and helping professionals.

In 2016 I completed a second Supervision diploma which covers supervising online, meeting BACP competencies.

My supervisees come from a number of backgrounds, models and geographical areas. As a therapist with my own private practice, I have flexibility in the managing of my working week for making appointments. I am confident working with group dynamics and group tasks and the confidence to lead and manage a case-discussion group in an agency, or other organisational settings.

I have had up-to-date supervisor training in sexual addiction and prostate cancer amongst others. I have delivered online supervision as a qualified clinical supervisor since 2013. In addition to casework supervision, I also provide informal supervision to therapists attending Online Training Ltd General course. In this case, my role is to be supportive and educational, to look within the counselling room and also outwith.

Angela Hughes – Marble White Counselling, Supervision & Training

Therapist

I have a background in Education, Training and Adult Mental Health. In addition to my practices at Waterlooville, Emsworth, Cosham and Havant, I have worked in a Secondary School as a School Counsellor and in a primary school dealing with children who have behavioural and special educational needs. Therefore, I am experienced in managing challenging behaviour and have specific expertise in Autism and Asperger’s.

Although my core approach is Humanistic, integrating Person-Centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy depending on the needs of the client, I also work in a Solution-Focused way. This means I offer a safe and confidential environment where I am empathic, non-judgmental and genuine. I will support you through your journey by being alongside you and listen attentively in order to understand and hear your experience. Having an environment whereby you feel safe enough to disclose/let go of any negative beliefs, fear, anger, sadness or guilt can be extremely healing and aid self-acceptance.

Throughout our relationship (which I believe is the key to successful therapy), you will learn more about yourself and be able to identify any obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential. I will support you to draw upon your own coping strategies. This is hugely empowering and will enable you to find a way forward. I can also help individuals to look at how they interact and act, based upon their behavioural patterns learnt as a child. This helps release old feelings and expresses emotions in the present. Once self-awareness evolves, individuals then have the choice of changing the way they relate to the outside world.

In addition to the ‘talking therapy’, (if requested by you) creative methods can be used such as art materials, puppets and stones. These stimuli make it easier to communicate deep issues, fears and worries. They provide a medium through which ideas and feelings can be expressed freely.

I have over ten years experience. I worked for several years as a Voluntary Counsellor at Off The Record. I supported both Young People, Adults and Parents and supervised support workers in managing the above issues. I helped assess candidates who were transferring into a counsellor role and delivered a workshop on Depression. I also trained new volunteers entering the service, offering information on how to deal with Relationship Difficulties, Suicidal Intentions and Abuse.

My work at Portsmouth Counselling Service with adults gave me valuable experience in working with individuals suffering from addictions. I also received training on Domestic Violence and Alcohol Counselling, so this has helped me understand the issues involved in such situations.
