I am an experienced registered BACP and ACTO counsellor and psychotherapist working in private practice and at a large charity in Edinburgh. I help people with a wide range of difficulties, from diagnosed mental health conditions, to feelings of depression and anxiety, bereavement, gender and sexuality issues and difficult relationship and workplace problems.
I understand every client to be unique in their personality and needs, and that while one therapeutic approach may be very helpful for a particular client, for another it might not be. I am trained in Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy enabling me to work in a way that is best suited to each client; for example, providing plenty of space for you to tell your story, placing a greater or lesser emphasis on your childhood, using more or less structured thinking, or perhaps setting gentle but effective goals.
I work in a warm, supportive and open way, ensuring your voice and needs are heard and respected. In this way I support you to understand yourself; your needs, conflicts, anxieties, defences, and relational patterns on a much deeper level, enabling you to explore alternative ways of being and relating, to help bring you greater satisfaction and stability to your life.
I have considerable experience working in different roles with adults who have physical or sensory disabilities, learning differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, mental health conditions, fatigue issues and autism spectrum disorders. In addition to experience of the effects of life events and caring roles on individuals. I am passionate about creating equal opportunities for all individuals.
I work according to the needs of my clients and supervisees. My core for counselling and supervision is person centred, but is adapted to suit individual requirements. My specialities are autistic related issues, adhd, pregnancy and birth related issues.
My practise focusses on supporting people who work or live in remote or conflict affected locations; humanitarians, aid workers and international professional staff and their families.
I have more than 20years experience of working in the developing world and have personal insight and understanding of the challenges and stresses of this way of life.
I work from a humanistic/existential perspective providing a safe therapeutic space for my clients to explore their concerns, challenges and choices at their own pace.
I have a background in Education, Training and Adult Mental Health. In addition to my practices at Waterlooville, Emsworth, Cosham and Havant, I have worked in a Secondary School as a School Counsellor and in a primary school dealing with children who have behavioural and special educational needs. Therefore, I am experienced in managing challenging behaviour and have specific expertise in Autism and Asperger's.
I am an experienced and trained sex and relationship therapist for when you looking for help with a couple relationship or want to examine being alone in more detail. Online clients use emails or online chats to speak about their problems. Some clients use a mixture of face-to-face and online and others use a mixture of voice or video chat and emails. The choice is up to you and you can change your mind if a particular method doesn't suit.
e-Counselling - Therapeutic Emails are more commonly used by individuals. My responses will generally take me around an hour to complete, working therapeutically from your email. Emailing for couples is a little different. Each of you will email my safe address individually but will receive a composite reply delivered to your inboxes. I use a specific password-protected computer which is held securely and has both firewalls and virus checker. Therapeutic emails are sent and received from a free encrypted service. This means no-one can eavesdrop on our messages.
Video Camera - using a secure video link you can have counselling with your partner or on your own. If you and your partner live in different places webcam counselling is an easy way for you both to take part in a session from separate locations. It's not the same as f2f counselling but there are enough similarities to allow you to feel comfortable quickly.
For both methods of online counselling, payment will be paid in advance by either Paypal or directly to my bank account via the invoice instructions. The email address which is used to identify me is suzie@suziemosson.org and I will send you an invoice.
Psychosexual therapy - Getting reliable help and achieving positive outcomes for relationship and sexual difficulties can sometimes be difficult to find in your local area. Even more problematic is finding the level of support appropriate for your needs. The treatment I offer is based on the model used successfully by Relate for over 25 years. Sessions will initially be carried out weekly or fortnightly with the time between sessions becoming greater as the clients gain understanding & confidence in overcoming their dysfunction. All of the work in the therapy “room” is based on talking; however, you are also given homework to do with your partner in the privacy of your own home. Many clients not only enjoy their homework but delight in it as it improves physical intimacy.

Right now I am also a director of ACTO. Next to that I have personal experience of pain issues and having to change your life around. I won't share much of my own experience but I understand how deeply it can affect your life.
I am a counsellor and tutor working to the person-centred approach. I see clients from around the world via secure video call, instant messaging (text) chat and encrypted email, and I am particularly interested in working with ex-pat British citizens having spent periods living abroad myself. I offer a free initial consultation where prospective clients can meet with me online and have a chat about their needs.
